The GR-2 is a 2-sleeper pop-top off-road caravan with a queen size bed, dinette and an outdoor kitchen as it's main features. It is a sleep ready caravan, making it so easy to stop, pop the roof and get in bed.
Starting at the nose cone, you have an overhead storage space ( +-250L volume ) for camping chairs etc. Directly below that is a large utility compartment for the power inlet, 220v DB, 12v Electrics, 60L Water tank & pump as well as the battery box (including solar charge controller and battery charger) - this compartment also has a work light.
Facing the left side of the caravan, the first hatch on the left opens up to reveal a 180kg twin locking slider system which carries your fridge ( up to 90 L), a 2-burner gas stove and a drawer system comprising of 2 large drawers and 1 pull-out stainless steel prep surface. There is a 220v, 12v and a gas supply for this drawer system.
The next hatch folds down and doubles as a table and this is also your main kitchen storage/bar area with 2 internal lights as well as another 220v and USB outlet to service this area. There is a canvas pass through towards the inside of the caravan. Let's just say this is the place where you pass a cup of coffee through to your partner who is still laying in bed!
On the body between these hatches there is an exterior 12v LED light ( Dual color )
Before you open the entry door, you need to unclip the 4 roof latches on the outside of the caravan. Once you get in, simply push the roof handle upwards and the 2 gas cylinders will do the rest of the work. Now you will find your queen size bed on the left with 2 reading lights. There is ample cupboard space consisting of 3 compartments next to the bed and 5 compartments on the back wall, all constructed out of aluminium with canvas fronts. Also located on the back wall and to the left is a small vanity unit ( stainless steel basin/tap and stainless steel surface ) just to add a touch of comfort. There is a 220v outlet close by for those who bring their hairdryers along.
On the roof there is another light ( LED dimmable )
Below the bed you have the dinette, should you wish to sit inside during bad weather you can simply fold your mattress up and drop the two seat boards down. There is another 220v outlet here should you wish to plug a laptop charger in whilst seated indoors. Below the benches ( in the wheel wells ) you have deep storage spaces on each side.
Should you wish to bring a Porta-Potti, there is a dedicated place for this under the bench next to the basin unit. The bench serves a dual purpose, one for sitting and putting on ones shoes and aslo to conceal the porta potti during day time. At bed time the bench seat slides out to create access to the porta-potti without taking up more floor space.
The canvas pop up on the roof has zip down flaps and mozzie nets. On the side wall a 1100x400 aluminium window opens up to fresh air and natural light. This window also comes with a privacy blind and a mozzie net.
The floor of the caravan is aluminium covered with linoleum. The chassis is SABS registered and hot dipped galvanized. There is no wood rot or rust here!
Getting out again and around the back is where we have the gas bottle, spare wheel and wash-up station with an externally mounted tap. The wash-up frame is attached to the rear of the body, and simply flips in place and locks down when travelling. There is a work light in this area also.
The L-Shape awning unzips and folds open along the side and around the back. Side panels are available on requested as an optional extra and can be ordered as individual panels at a time should you not need the entire awning enclosed.
All major aluminium & steel components are CAD designed, CNC lazer cut & bent for a precision and consistent fit.
Automotive grade seals are used around all openings.
All doors are secured by means of compression locks ( keys included ) and the main door has a caravan latch.
The cabin is insulated for extra comfort winter or summer and this eliminates condensation droplets.

**SOLAR PANEL & BATTERY
We opted not to include a solar panel and battery combination as there are many options available and each customer has his own brand and type preference. To avoid unnecessary spending for both parties it's more sensible to leave this out of the initial cost of the caravan and to specify this as a preference/option afterward. This also provides the customer with a brand new battery/panel from the 1st day of ownership.
